The Context …
When I look back over my life I lived so far, I found one common thread running across all my important phases, turning points, high and low moments .. and that’s nothing but “Music” … in its various form it gave me the strength and motivation and purpose to live my life to the fullest !
I consider myself lucky to have been born in a family that has cherished Music throughout since my great grandfather’s time! I grew up listening to my grandfather singing and teaching light music / Sugam Sangeet / भावगीत since my childhood and learning from him at the same time. It was because of him I got affiliated with music in various forms ; be it instrumental right from playing Harmonium and Tabla over many years or sing it along !
I started my formal learning of Hindustani Classical Music / हिंदुस्थानी शास्त्रीय संगीत since 2013 from my Guruji Pandit Vijay Koparkar from Pune. Until that time I used to get aligned with Classical Music through Classical based Hindi Film Songs however my formal training gave me the vision, ear along with the the right perspective to understand, learn and enjoy Classical Music Programs / बैठक. Until this time, my concepts about Raag, Bandish were very constrained. However the more I started learning formally, the more I got into and am still getting into the the bliss and musical aura that the classical music gives you when you listen or try singing/practicing it and my joy had no bounds. I truly agree with the fact that classical music is such a mammoth knowledge base that one lifetime is certainly less to cover all of it so as called by Pandit Rajan Sajan Mishra that if you are able to master Raag Yaman you can say you have achieved at least something in your life. “यमन को साध लो तो समझो जनम सफल हो गया …. “
2019 and some part of 2018, I was approached by few of my musically like-minded friends to coach / conduct music tuition and I gracefully denied it since I am still a student. After a lot of thinking I decided to start this endeavour in the role of a Senior Student purely to pass on the little experience and understanding that I have received over these years related to Music – vocal and instrumental. This was an experimental attempt to see how people respond and how they like it. I am happy to share that People DO like this and many parents approached me for enrolling their kids for this music coaching as well. Due to my other priorities towards Work and Family earlier, I couldn’t give any commitments so far. Year 2020 is going to change it …
Starting this February 2020, I am going to open up the coaching for Kids at least for the ones above age 7/8 to begin with. And since this initiative is growing further .. I thought to make it more formal …
So welcome all to Swaradheen … a musical initiative to promote our own Hindustani Classical Music to those people around us who are musically like minded !!
