Nostalgia 2 – संगीत रसग्रहण २

One of my many many most favorite songs of Kishoreda!!! There are so many things to write about this song … attempted just a few –


1) I believe Kishore Kumar was THE ONE AND ONLY ONE LEGEND who was like ONE MAN ARMY! Lyricist, Music Composer, Singer, Actor, Director all by himself … there are many such great songs and this song is no exception!

2) This song is from the shelved film NEELA AASMAN (1959) with Madhubala…it got shelved after her death. “Neela Aasmaan” – Story of a priest and a beauty queen. Both ship-wrecked and stranded on a deserted island. Great story idea. Would have been great to have been made. Story and direction was by Kishoreda himself.

3) Kishoreda has composed this song in such a blissful simplicity. Very selective instruments and if you would notice, Music Piece M1 is same as the lead line along with beautiful harmonies, M2 is like nowhere; just a blank bar and M3 is same as the stanza blended with harmonies again!


4) The M0 has a distinct phrase of Kishorda’s another composed song “राही तू मत रुक जाना …” sung by Hemant Kumar in the movie “दूर गगन की छांव में”

5) Kishoreda’s soulful and soothing voice! Especially on this song, he has kept the background harmonies and other music so well balanced that one can only surrender to his golden voice! It’s such a bliss!




6) If you will notice, the rhythm is plain simple time signature of 4/4 and that too with a combination of metronome like ticks and triangle. Yet another attribute of a great composer keeping it simple but having an amazing impact !!

7) Lyrics by none other than Kishorda speak for themselves! I so wish if this film would have made it to box office!
